THE SICKNESS

Waited for a call
that never came.
Waited for a bell
that never rang.
Waited for a love
that would endure.
Had the sickness
but felt no cure.
Waited for someone
to stick around.
Always lost,
but never found.


Ms. Pennington is a 2010 graduate of
McKendree University and a 1994
graduate of Eastern Illinois University.
She holds a master's degree in
Educational Leadership and a bachelor's
degree in Secondary Education English.
She resides in Carmi, Illinois, where she
is a full-time Special Education Teacher,
mother and grandmother.
